|||Durban - A 24-year-old man accused of stabbing two family members to death and injuring three others appeared in the Nongoma District Court on Friday, the NPA said.
The matter was postponed to September 3 for the man to undergo a mental assessment, said National Prosecuting Authority provincial spokeswoman, Natasha Ramkisson.
He was arrested on Thursday in the Maphophoma area after five family members were attacked when they refused a request to slaughter a cow, said Colonel Jay Naicker.
A 10-month-old baby and a 48-year-old woman died of severe stab wounds.
Three other family members were hospitalised, said Naicker.
