KwaZulu-Natal police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of Nhlakanipho Dlamini in Umlazi.
|||Johannesburg - A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 23-year-old in Umlazi, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Wednesday.
“A 37-year-old suspect was arrested on Tuesday night at his tuck shop in Umlazi C-section for murder,” said Captain Thulani Zwane.
An unlicenced revolver and 12 rounds of ammunition were found in his possession.
Police believed the revolver was used to kill Nhlakanipho Dlamini, 23, whose body was found at around 8.30pm on Saturday on Sibusiso Mdakane Road, Umlazi C-section.
Zwane said the motive for the killing was unknown. Ballistics tests would determine whether the weapon could be linked to other crimes committed in the province.
The suspect was expected to appear soon in the Umlazi Magistrate's Court on charges of murder and possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition.
