Alleged hitman linked to two murders

An alleged hitman was arrested in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

Johannesburg - An alleged hitman was arrested in Durban on Friday, KwaZulu-Natal police said.

The 33-year-old was allegedly linked to two murders, one in Melmoth, the other in KwaMashu, north of Durban, Colonel Vincent Mdunge said.

Betty Dubazana, 55, was shot in the head five times in her Melmoth home on September 4, 2011.

Skhumbuzo Cele, 22, was shot dead, and Sphamandla Ngema wounded at the KwaMashu men's hostel on February 26 this year.

A 32-year-old man was initially arrested in both cases. He led police to the alleged hitman. Both men would appear in court soon. The motive for the murders was not known. - Sapa
